Tell me about your front door mat, please

I need a nice welcoming front door mat - one that goes outside the door rather than in. Or both actually. But the outside one is what I am going to buy first, so I need recommendations.

Or do I not need one on the outside?

if outside you need one of those hard scratchy coconut mats.

in my humble little opinion you need a coir one but like this style to allow for drainage. otherwise - it jut ends up sitting sodden in rainwater (unless its in a porch? - mine isn't)

Inside have one of those 'magic mat' things and shove it in the washing machine every few months - comes out like new.

I don't have one outside but I do have a "mat well" inside, ie it is a fitted coir mat that is fitted like carpet.

My house is the ex show house and it was in when we moved in.
