What do I do with all this paper?! Shredding services?

I've just had a clear out of our filing cabinet and got a very satisfying stack of papers to chuck out, a good couple of feet high. I need to shred them first (old bank statements etc), but it will take me hours and probably break our tiny shredder. Anyone know of any shops etc where I can just take the papers along to be shred? The only services I can find online are all geared towards businesses.

If you've got an old metal bin or something can you not burn it in the garden - I live with pyromaniac DH and DS who will set fire to anything given the chance so maybe not the best suggestion

Nice idea, but I don't think so really. Solid reams of paper don't really burn that well. It would be a different case after shredding, pyromaniac heaven!
