How DO you get sweat stains out of shirts?

I missed this in my Home Economics class.

I had imagined that because DH has an office job, sort of, there would be no issues about laundry. But it turns out that he must spend his working day tossing cabers or dragging massive boulders, or other equally strenuous tasks, as his shirts have such grotty underarms that Geoff Capes would reel at the sight.

I've tried pre-washing treatment such as Vanish soap, glycerine soap, using bio powder, using hotter washes, putting extra Vanish treatments in with the wash, all to no avail. I'm starting to lose the will to live - ironing in itself is not fun and no amount of scented water is going to make much difference.

I'm guessing the underarm stains are a combination of anti-perspirant and sweat rather than just one or t'other, but am getting to me wits' end with it. I wish I could just continually buy new ones instead.

Any suggestions gratefully received. (Even if it's "just buy more shirts" - I'll be suspicious if your nickname is Matalan )

Try soaking over night in salt water [cold]
Wash with a scoop of vinegar and Ariel bio.
If it is a very stubborn stain soak in 1 cap of vinegar per cup of water

buzzbb would that work equally well on black shirts? my dh has to wear black shirts to work and I noticed there are stains, again seem to be from anti-perspirant as well as sweat.

There's a really excellent product you can buy for this, I think it's available on amazon now too

It should do DP wears white but with coloured badges on it and it really worked, the salt should set the colour and be fin, it also cleans the machine, two birds with the one stone and all
That looks good gillybean is it safe on colours ?
