How does one repel a slug invasion?

Slugs in the kitchen They slime in through the (shut) patio doors. We have copper tape on the exterior of the doors and I have tried scrubbing away the old trails so they can't follow them. Admittedly I am a slattern so the kitchen floor isn't spotless, but I am sick at finding slugs on the inside of the bin.

How can I discourage them?

Slug pellets. Put them down last thing at night and remove in the morning.

I had this once where slugs apparently lived behind a skirting board in the living room. No idea how they could survive long in such a barren landscape (from a slug's pov) but they didn't outlast the slug pellets. Put some outside the patio doors. I'm guessing you don't like such measures or you would have tried it already, but unless you can invite a hedgehog to stay it's the only sure way.

Scoop up the remains with some kitchen paper, they leave such a disgusting sticky slime that takes several scrubs to get off hands. Hope this helps.
