Shortlisted number 1 for social housing

I’d really like some advice.
I was served a section 21 notice in January, I went to the council and they agreed duty to prevent homelessness. They said due to the complex needs of my family I ideally need social housing but I’d most likely be rehired in private. I’ve been able to bid on homes but only one was suitable until last week when 3 new builds came up, all perfect location and meet needs.
i have also been viewing and applying for private lets and last Friday I was told I had been accepted for one. I am to sign the tenancy the 4th March. Before I was accepted I asked my housing officer was there anyway she could find out if I would be offered one of the 3 social homes as I had found a private rent and I didn’t want to mess people around. She said she had no idea and that I was 5 in the queue. Fast forward to yesterday and I have been shortlisted number 1 for a house I bid on!
can anyone tell me how long from telephone interview to being told you have gotten a social house is? I’ve let my current letting agent know I’m moving and will be completed by the 7th March but I’m sure they would let me stay until the 17th as my section 21 notice is until the 21st March. the social house is ready by 14th March.
I’m really sort on time here and don’t want to mess people around.
Social housing will also be more secure for me and my children as I’m income will reduce in the next year and the rent is likely to become unaffordable.

Oooh...exciting but stressful at the same time!

Firstly I wouldn't worry about moving out of your private place by 21st March. If you don't move out by end of section 21 landlord will go through a court process and it will take months. A few weeks here or there if you are still paying them rent is not a big problem for them.

I would try and get some written confirmation next week from the social housing provider (council?) that you are will be offered the tenancy for the new build. I hope they can do that in time.
