My friend lives there - single mum to a teen. She likes it a lot - good community, a bit arty, lots of independent businesses. It's not directly on the sea but West Bay and other beaches are nearby.

If it had a train station it would be almost perfect personally. Also it isn't on the coast itself but it's a short distance from West Bay which is accessible. Eype isn't though

Well accessible as in step free. It's stony and hard to walk on if that's an issue

I went there last year and hated it because the place has a really creepy strange atmosphere. Couldn't wait to leave

It's old fashioned and very insular. Good mix of independent shops. There is a leisure centre and you can use the one at freshwater out of season. No proper cinema. Waitrose Lidl and Morrisons for food. The beach is in Westbay, which has a village feel with over priced restaurants and a run down antique place.

I love it, it’s quirky, but public transport isn’t brilliant.

I was there the other day. Gutted that the yarn shop & a nice arty gift/card shop had gone. It's quirky & always feels like it could do with a bit of investment.

It's got a great independent cinema, an arts centre, leisure centre, some good restaurants, lots of coffee shops, some quirky places to shop and a bi-weekly market. Tons of antique stores and pubs. Public transport is not great, but it's lovely.

Broadchurch!

Bridport has gone quite arty in recent years - I remember it as being a bit of a dump in the 1970s (showing my age!). I like it, but I don't think the beaches nearby are wonderful. There are some lovely walks, and it's a handy place to be if you want to take up fossil hunting!
It doesn't have a train station but the National Express Coaches run through there.

The Baptist Church is amazing.
