Band d social housing?

Hi all, just after advice about being out in band d social housing?
My application is still in process but on my online form it says in my band d and after a quick google search that seems to suggest I cannot bid for housing and unlikely to get a house?
I don't know much about the process so I'm a bit confused!
Feeling a bit disheartened really. I'm a single mum to 2 boys age 1 and 4 and currently living in my mum and dads house. There's 5 people in this house who need a bedroom but the house is a 3 bed and my mum, bless her, sleeps on the sofa so my eldest son can have his own room (I have very much told her not to do this but she will not take no for an answer!!!!). I had thought that I may finally have found a way to be secure in my own home by putting this application in but now feeling a bit hopeless :(

What area do you live in? It's awfully tough to get social housing these days sadly. If you're housed safely ...which you are...even though it's far from ideal...then you go to the bottom of the list.

The top band is for people who are literally homeless. So people who have lost their rentals and can't afford the deposit for another etc.

Or for people who have left due to domestic abuse etc.

My best advice (having been there) is to move out of your Mum's into private rented accommodation. When your lease is up, then contact the housing department again and let them know when you have to leave....and that you don't have enough for a deposit.

Then they will be more likely to put your band up.

That's it sadly.
