Had parents evening online last night for my Y8 son. You get just 3 minutes with each teacher before it cuts off automatically.
Mostly all very good but the weakest subject was English. The teacher said she would like to see him writing "at a deeper level with deeper layers". I asked if she could elaborate. I didn't really get specifically what she meant. She said it could be where a word had different meanings. Then the call cut off.
Anyone able to add any meaning to her statement above, ideally with examples. I'd like to help him if I can so if there is a specific way to improve on this I'd love to hear any ideas.
His mum is not native English speaker so he speaks another language at home except with me so maybe this is a factor also.
