French: anyone know of some good resources?

Hello/ Bonjour!

My daughter has joined a high school and is behind in French. The local catchment junior schools all taught French but her junior did Italian (and badly).

Does anyone know of some good resources (online or written) to help engage her with French and boost her understanding?

Thank you/ Merci. X

How old is she?

Www.languagesonline.org.uk or language gym .com are both good for verb conjugations

Her textbook might be loaded onto memrise.com

Quizlet for making her own flashcards and games with vocab she needs to learn

Duolingo is overrated imo although I think you can now select what you work on whereas before you had to go through their set order.

Books depend on age really ...

Hi Smerlin,

Some great stuff there, thank you.

My daughter is 12, year 7 (1st year of secondary).

We have looked at Memrise. Is it a subscription service?

The first two look good too. I speak French so I can dig for the correct level in Gym.

Much appreciated.

Memrise is both free/paid, depend on what you want to do. We only use free section, but enough for general learning. There are many courses, and you can decide to go pro(paid) if you want to.

I do rate Duolingo. You can pick and choose what you want to work on, as smerlin says. Great for beginners.

Thank you both Irvine and Lara. I'll look them up. Parents evening soon so I can ask the teachers too.
