Quite positive piece and quite accurately quoted, (for a change) it's just a shame they used the 'middle class' spin on it, I don't consider myself to be middle class at all!

I love this article! It explains perfectly the Govs hidden agenda behind their latest attempts at controlling HE families.
This bit is appalling,

Qoute
The nerve of it is amazing. She (Delyth Morgan) first suggests the existence of abuse, then produces no evidence for this claim, then says that one purpose of the inquiry is to see if there is any evidence of such abuse. But if they haven't any evidence, on what basis do they think they have the right to launch such an investigation? It is sadly true that, if you want to wreck someone's reputation, you accuse him of child abuse. Everyone will immediately back away, and guilt will be presumed.

Dirty Tactics by the Gov.
They must be pretty desperate to get to our HE children!
Are we really such a threat to them?

sorrento · 29/01/2009 13:42

Yes you're a massive threat because you are thinking for yourselves and no doubt educating your children to do the same.

onwardandupward · 29/01/2009 14:10

Have you got a link?

Doh!
Just realized my earlier post was in ref to another HE article.
Interesting reading..
The coming war against home-schoolers.

Inhindsight - the Daily Mail article was by Peter Hitchins - who is pretty universally regarded as as mad as a box of frogs. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you!

I guess I must be "as mad as a box of frogs too" then, but it depends on which angle you are coming from.
There are around 140 comments, the majority of which agree with Mr Hitchin's claims.Thats a lot of mad frogs!

And which-ever way you look at it, there is NO evidence that HE is used as a cover for neglect, abuse etc (NSPCC bod admitted it on Radio 2) Yet, they waste even more money looking for something that "may" be happening. If there was such evidence, believe me the Gov would have wasted no time in banndying it about! They would make sure it made National Headlines in support of their sustained attack on HE parents. But they have nothing, so they make it up!

I AM worried. I believe this latest consultation is NOT about safe-guarding our HE kids. It's about controlling them.
My worries are allayed somewhat by the massive response of the HE community around the country who can see this consultation for what it really is. Thankfully there are a hell of a lot of "mad frogs" out there.

seeker · 31/01/2009 21:33

OK - I may very well be stupid. But I really can't see anything in this new stuff that says the intention is to "control" HE-ing.

There is, of course, no evidence to support the suggestion that HE children are more likely to be neglected or abused. However if they WERE being, then it would be easier for the parents involved to hide it, simply because the children are at home, and, for example, there wouldn't be any alarm bells ringing if they weren't at school, or turned up for school LOOKING neglected. And schools do act on this sort of thing - I have been involved in several cases.
