HOW do you get a haircut?

I simply cannot this one out.

However I slice it it seems to end up with me taking a baby, a 3 year old and a 5 year old to sit, with minimal supervision, in a hairdressing saloon. I fear not even raisins will get us through this.

How does everyone else manage? Do you cleverly have partners who are at home for at least some of the hours that hairdressers are open?

You could get someone to come and cut your hair at home.

Depending on quite how long your dp's hours are could you go to a student evening? They usually run after normal closing time and you pay a small fee to be practiced on! IME they are pretty good because they are being supervised and because they aren't experienced, they are very careful (if a little slow!)

Get a hairdresser to come out? Is your DP not home on Saturdays? Not HE, but it's impossible with a 2/8 and an 12 week old too, but managed it the other day for the first time in a year You may have to DIY it

mobile hairdresser? Though maybe not an option if you (unlike me) are remotely stylish.

Mobile hair dressers are the way forward when you have small children, whether you HE or not.

I would usually ask my mother, same as for dentist, doctor, hospital, present shopping, erm,

you know. Everything really.

She just about copes with two of them

i believe you can get hairdressers to come out though if that sounds like a potentially good plan

the trouble with mobile hairdressers you see...I do look quite like the picture of the fillyjonk on my profile...my hair requires very careful cutting as else...it just all goes very wrong. I once had my hair cut by a (very nice) lady called violet for £5 and it was not a sucess.

also...I have too many children to leave with anyone with less than 50% of chromosomes in common.

Is your dh home on a saturday? You take a morning off.

There are good mobile hair dressers and bad mobile hair dressers. Going to a Salon does not guarentee a decent hair cut.

It is best to go on friends recomendations.

When I was using a hairdresser I either booked it for the weekend so DH could look after DS or get MIL to look after him (she lives round the corner from us & is a childminder - nice & handy!)....I don't need a hairdresser anymore so it's not an issue

pay your expert salon hairdresser enough money to get them to come to your house after work one day

I have this problem, 3 DS's incl a baby and mad 2yo. I think may insist DP takes a day off and book appointments for hair, dentist, optician and doctor (to sort out contraception (horse/stable door)) - although even he has never been left with all 3 of them yet.

Late night Saturday opening, duh!

DP doesn't technically work Saturdays, what has kept on happening of late is meetings away on Friday that also wipe out part of Saturday. Or necessary HE-type things.

But wayhey, my hair is now MUCH shorter. (I look like the Fillyjonk on my profile, but, crucially, with layers )

and honestly, I have nothing against mobile hairdressers

its just that I tend to look like an extra from Fraggle Rock after they have left.

You need to find a recommended one. My sister found someone by asking a lady at work who cut her hair (she really liked the ladies hair). She goes round to my sisters house and I go down there with said kids in tow. It always looks quite good - she is quite trendy and can do whatever you want. Mind you, I'm not really the sort to fuss much over my hair, I have to admit.

In between cuts I tend to hack any annoying bits off myself, which I know vexes the hairdresser but she's too nice to say much

Anyhow, well done on finding a solution!

Advertise for a daytime babysitter-i for one would do it as I do tutoring early evening but am free during the day!
