Online schools - anyone got any experience?

Just that really. I have been doing a lot of research as I'm considering moving mine from mainstream school. They are just hating life at the moment and it's mostly down to bullying and school stress. I posted in the AIBU group about this and loads of people said they would miss out on socialising etc, but I still feel like it would be a good move if they can get away from all the negatives of normal school. So I thought I'd ask in this group so see if anyone had any experience of online school - pros and cons? Any online school you'd recommend? Thanks in advance!

Hello there,
Yes I recently moved mine from Mainstream secondary to Kings Interhigh online school age 14 year 9.
He has been in the new online school for a few months now and really enjoys it. He learns way more than in his previous school because there are no classroom behaviour management intteruptions, he is doing better gradewise and seems happier, more himself again, less conscious, more chatty and generally back to his old self pre- high school days. Teachers are really kind, motivating and friendly. Probably best decision I ever made to be honest.
We do work from home though so he is not alone all day can chat to us too and we can help out if needed. They do need to be quite computer savvy but this can all be learned too. There are great instruction and intros available. They do have extra curricular groups for the kids to mix and chat etc hobby clubs although mine has never used these. He is quite happy with his online gamer friends and has an active sport life and social life outside of school anyway. No issues settling in, its been easier for us all round as a family and I actually know what he is learning for once and can help if required pre tests etc where as in mainstream normal school I didnt have a clue what they were learning 99% of the time.
I think it depends on your child too, their age and their ability to work independently and follow teacher instructions online. My other child likely wouldnt be suited to it, they are both very different.
I hope this helps a little.

Hi there - we have been with Nisai for the last couple of years and have loved it. My DD suffers from high level anxiety and struggled with her mainstream school. She has really excelled in this new environment. The lessons are all live and only 15 kids in a class. The teachers, mentors and student support staff are fab! They all got to know my DD and us as parents so well and it’s so obvious how much the Nisai staff all care about her and her daily struggles. She really has come out of her shell and it’s so nice to have my daughter back in our lives again. She is achieving academic results we never thought she would reach.
