but that's the local authority estimate, and since there are many families who HE from the start, those children aren't necessarily known about at all by the State, so the actual numbers are probably very much higher.

Good point, I was completely unaware how "big" home ed was becoming. I think it would be hard to argue that all the HE families in cambs have similar interests/opinions/backgrounds when there are clearly so many of them. Makes socialisation seem less of an issue.
