Hello,

We home educate our 9 year old due to SEN and probable neurodiversity. Due to this, we are following a child led approach with lots of groups, outdoor/extra curricular activities and we feel confident with the education we can provide her at present.

Our son is Y7 with v different issues to his sister albeit also with possible nd traits. He has been in school but has now asked to be home edded. He has had years of bullying, is very shut down towards making friends and is v unhappy in school.

We are much less confident in our abilities to home educate him. He is capable, an advanced reader and we believe he would be able do do GCSE’s /A Levels and so on. We feel he would need to continue to study some core subjects so we do not disadvantage him.

We have looked at online schooling, however the well known ones, such as interhigh operate school terms. If we decide to take him out, we would like to avoid this so that he can be part of educational school trips outside of school term times with his sister, eg, London museums and galleries and so on. Plus many of the discounts for home Ed children are only eligible during school hours.

Does anyone have any experience of e schools that offer this? We would also be looking at ways to support him to self study or to teach him ks3 at home so would also be interested to hear how other home edders approach this with children of his age.

Thank you!

Wolsey Hall has deadlines for assignments and so on, but otherwise you’re free to move learning around as you want.

Thank you! I’ve just been on their website. Do you have personal experience of them?

Apparently some of the schools (Net school) record their lessons so you can catch up if away. Does anyone know about this, or have experience with Netschool

Thank you.
