"Advice for accidental home educators" during coronavirus

Just read a really lovely and inspiring long blog post from a home ed mum who seems to have it much more together than I do, LOL.

As a long term home educator I am feeling nearly as much at sea as parents whose children usually go to school. You see, my go-to solution for any home ed problem is always to get out more. Go places, see things, meet up with friends. It works really well for us. Home educating actually AT HOME is a different beast altogether.

We're just starting a fortnight of isolation as my eldest has a cough, so this advice is just what I needed!

Go places, see things, meet up with friends

Please do not do this whilst the Government advice is that everyone needs to be increasing their social distance

That's what she's saying Moggy. That she usually would do those things but now she can't.

Maybe think of something that your children would enjoy learning about and find ways to make a project about it. You can do art, make models etc as well as all the written stuff.

Yes, Lilypods is right, I am saying that in common with many other home ed families we are now staying home away from people, and this is hard. We aren't used to being alone.

We home educators ARE used to learning in different ways, and that is something I think we can help others with. But it's worth mentioning that home educators don't all have the magic answer to "how do I stop my kids from going crazy stuck in the house" because we don't usually stay at home like we all have to now.
