To consider home ed amongst the Coronavirus outbreaks

Hello all,
I have 2 dc of 7 & 5.
They attend a lovely small school, however I have always been interested in home schooling, ds is a very sensitive boy, such a kind heart & sometimes gets overwhelmed by school & saying goodbye at drop off. Adding to that the fear of the Coronavirus at the moment & I am ready to homeschool!!
BUT I have absolutely no idea of where to start, what I need to do, what supplies we would need, does everyone use a tutor, books? Etc etc?
Sorry that’s very rushed but basically any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you

home schooling due to Corona virus fears would be very different from normal home schooling. most home schoolers will have regular group educational activities of many kinds but obviously you wouldn't do that if your reason for home schooling was to protect against Corona.

children need to be able to play with other children and would quickly become very unhappy if isolated in that way.

if it's a small school your risks are already very low. what are your class sizes? the reason schools may close is that having 32 children in a room for many hours a day makes transfer of germs very likely. a possibly very effective alternate measure would be to reduce maximum class sizes to 20 or 22 as a way of spreading the children out more but or government won't fund that - but maybe you already have that in your small school?

The school is small, 30 children in each class but only one class per year.
Coronavirus is not my only reason for considering home ed, I suppose it’s just made me want to do it more.
I guess if the schools close I could have a trial & see how we got on before making the jump but I’ve been considering it for a couple of years now.
