Home schooling in Cambridgeshire

I’m thinking of home schooling for A levels in Cambridgeshire. Does anyone know which schools in this area will allow my child to sit AQA A levels in Physics, Maths and Spanish?

i think the peterborough school does.

I'm not too sure- sorry. it might be worth phoning the school after the bank holiday is over and putting your dc's name down, and asking the question x

Thanks. Apart from organising the exams is there anything else I need to do in a home schooling situation or any other advice you can offer?

I can't think of any off the top of my head right now, apart from Are you going to be enrolling them in an online course, like this, which offers midterm assessments etc so you can see how your dc is getting on (they offer physics and maths) and then here for spanish (i can only seem to find edexcel courses avaliable for spanish online), or will you be teaching him yourself/getting in tutors?

You may look into the practical part for a level? I think some uni courses might need it? Not sure about detail though as mine are 5 and 2

Physics A'level has a compulsory practical. It is possible to do but you need to find a provider for the practical side, expect to pay heavily and have to travel.
I don't know for certain but Spanish is likely to have speaking and listening element which may cause problems. The home ed exam wiki and the Facebook or Yahoo groups linked from the home page of it are the best place for information.

I take it your teen has been at school up to now?

It may be worth knowing that unfortunately your entitlement to claim benefits for them would stop if you begin home education now. Parents who were home educating before their child was 16 can carry on claiming, but others can't. I think it's unfair, but those are the benefit rules.

If that makes a big difference to you, you might approach the main distance learning providers. It may be that their courses are accredited and would entitle you to claim benefits in the same way you could if your child attended a bricks and mortar college. I expect they would know the answer to that.
