Is it possible to do an EPQ at home?

DD’s starting A-levels at Interhigh in September but they don’t offer the EPQ. Is it possible to do it on your own/with a home tutor? Does anyone know?

Good question! I would suggest contacting one or more exam boards to see what they suggest. Good luck! I supervise the EPQ at my school and the kids generally get a lot out of it.

Are you familiar with the home ed exams wiki? That has a page on the subject: he-exams.wikia.org/wiki/EPQ

Somewhere on that site you will find links to mailing lists (I think there's a Facebook and a Yahoo one) which you might like to join to ask your questions.

Thanks - I’ll take a look at that wiki and get in touch with the exam boards too

No it isn't i believe. But if you look on the link Saracen posted i think there is a section about it and suggestions for alternatives.

Hi *Pleasedontdothat
We are looking at Interhigh for A levels this year.
I am still worried about taking the plunge as I have no idea how good their results/teachers are.
It is the only place that offers German at A level though, but it's an expensive decision.

Well I am in the process of reviewing my DD’s EPQ before she sends it back to school and quite frankly I am wondering what is the point in it. She has put many hours of effort into it but on the open days we have been to quite a few unis are not interested and the ones that are only seem to be interested if it is an A grade (in which case they may offer a slightly lower offer) . In all honesty she probably was better off just using that time on her A levels (but that is just my opinion!)

Thanks @Tweennightmare that’s interesting - DD’s old school were really bigging up the EPQ so I wondered if she’d be at a disadvantage without one. Tbh, a fairly free-form, long term project is usually a bit of a nightmare for a very anxious perfectionist so I wouldn’t be sad for her just to concentrate on A-levels and her riding
