Moving to Cornwall and starting home ed

Hi
I'm new to mumsnet, and home educating. Any help and advice would be amazing.
I'm just about to move to Cornwall with my three kids and I'm going to start home educating. Does anyone know of any home educating groups in South Cornwall? We're hoping to rent in Newquay until our house sells and then we're looking to move anywhere south of Newquay.

I've wanted to home-ed for a while but didn't feel brave enough. My youngest who's 5 doesn't like school, he just wants to play and struggles with loud busy places, so school is one big nightmare for him. We've just had a terrible experience at school for my eldest and the school have left us feeling unsupported and uncomfortable leaving the kids with them. It has given me the push I needed to take them out, so we're putting all the plans in place now.
I'd love to hear your thoughts

Afraid I can't help with any groups, but I thought I'd bump for you! I home edded for a while but in another part of the country and while we enjoyed it, it wasn't the long term solution for us. However, I'm sure cornwall will have some local groups. Education otherwise might be a good website to start with? It might also be worth once you're settled, looking at some of the many little local schools there are round Cornwall should you decide to consider school again in the future. There are still quite a lot of schools with under 100 pupils who can properly cater to individual children. Good luck with whatever route you choose and your move!

Hi Twinky!

Most home ed groups are on Facebook, so the usual advice is to use the FB search bar for the name of your county or nearest big town followed by "home education". For example, I found "Cornwall Home Education" and "West Cornwall Home Educators" which both seem fairly busy.

There's also a "Cornwall Home Educators" website which I found by googling. It doesn't seem to be updated very often. However, there are many people's contact details on there, so I'm sure you can ring or email to get the info you need. cornwallhomeed.wordpress.com/he-info-contacts/

Have fun!!

Hi, I am in Cornwall, there are lots of HE groups in Cornwall on Facebook, so you will be fine. I have been HE for a couple of years but only just joined FB and there is loads of stuff going on that I never knew about!

Advice (FWIW): Join all the fb groups now, introduce yourself, arrange meet-ups, above all don't worry. HE is fun. I hope you drive as it's pretty much essential here.
