Home educating my 14 year old daughter

Hello all, I've read many of your threads and they have been a great help already. Thank you.
My daughter has been bullied for the last 2 years at secondary school and last week was the final straw! The school have tried to help my daughter but have NOT tackled the bullies!
So, (deep breath) I have decided to home educate her!! I have looked into what I have to do, i.e de-register, meet with the HE at the local council, let the school know and what books to get etc....
I have also looked into her doing IGCSE's as opposed to GCSE's as they do not require the coursework.
Please can anyone advise me which company is the best to go with, I've looked at AQA, icslearn, nec.ac.uk, open study college & Oxford open learning?

My daughter is going to do English, English literature, maths, science & history.

Check out edexcel. Ds's school does igces sudden death and uses them.

But also ask the la what the options are for controlled assessments being available, whether and where there are schools and teachers ready to host and mark.

Other options you could look into are waiting and sitting gcses at college at 16 for free or colleges are funding 14-16 year olds from september.

Interhigh could be an option if funds allow.

You are also under no obligation to go meet the ehe team, you can provide a educational philosophy, whatever you feel comfortable with.

Check out the home educating websites and education otherwise as well. DF I think may provide some guidance.

I'm not criticising, but just interested - is there another school that you could try? I'm just interested as to why you've decided to home educate.

You do know that you don't actually have to meet with the local council don't you? Once you deregister, they aren't required to give you any support (and many don't) and may well just give you hassle. Which council are you?

I'm in the same boat so I sympathise with you my 12 year old son has been to 2 schools in our area and has been bullied twice and to be honest both schools were next to useless when tackling the bullies. I too am new to home schooling as I have just removed my son from his last school hope it all goes well for you

I've looked into other schools but I feel the same problem will rear its ugly head again for my daughter as she's got NO confidence whatsoever due to the bullying and she doesn't feel safe in school. Rather have her at home where she feels secure with her loved ones and she is learning much more (yes even in one week) as she's not worrying what the bullies are going to do next.
Meeting with the council as planned, a very nice lady. A friend has met with her and she was extremely helpful. So cross fingers.
