Hi, everyone who knows of Lucy will know that for several reasons we've been thinking about school for her. We've just had a meeting with the SENCO of a lovely little village school and she's going to be doing 3 hours a day to start, while we're applying for a statement. The fantastic thing is, they are going to fund her a one to one the whole time she's there! That will start from her first day.
She is going to see the school tomorrow, and actually seems quite excited. I'm going to miss her like crazy, but I'll be helping out at the school quite a bit. (My choice) She'll also be going into the year below her age, as key stage 1 is more play based. The SENCO said that the LEA hardly ever agree to this.
I'm really pleased! I hope she enjoys it and it's the beginning of a new adventure for her. It all sounds so positive. Smile

Well done, after following your story for ages it seems the best of outcomes, I wish her well- I'm sure she will love it! Let us know how it goes.

julienoshoes · 18/07/2012 11:49

I wish you both well, and hope that Lucy enjoys her new school.

Thanks everyone. Smile She's been to the school today and really likes it! She even said "when am I going to start?" I'm quite confident I've made the right decision.

That's terrific! I'm really pleased that you have found an arrangement which you feel will work for her. Good luck with it!

mummyloveslucy · 19/07/2012 20:13

Thanks Saracen. Smile She went again today and met her teacher and some of the children. She's made three friends who didn't want her to go. She didn't want to come home either! I am impressed. Grin

I've been a lurker on yours and Lucy's story for a while. What fantastic news! Obviously not without it's trials, but SENCO sounds fab. Really hope this works out for you both Smile

oh I'm so pleased for you, and for Lucy of course :)

I really hope that she enjoys school, that you get a well-deserved rest and that she makes good progress there.

Lougle · 08/08/2012 17:59

MLL that is just fantastic!!!! I truly think that with the sort of needs Lucy has, a good school to back you up can be the key to success. Well done for making such a difficult decision.

I can't wait to hear how much progress she makes this year!
