Hi, we're off to London for the weekend to stay with my dad. Anyone got any ideas on a cheap day out with a 4 yo who is really into history? She's been really into the Fire of London lately, but shows an interest in history in general.

I'm actually not HEing Blush as she's happy at our little village school, but want to fill in the "real life" gaps that the school are not always able to cater for.

TIA

I know they aren't cheap but how about one of the Tower of London or St Paul's Cathedral, which was built just after the Great Fire as the original burnt down.

A lot of the museums are free. The Geffrye Museum has rooms set out in different periods - quite nice and quiet. It's free but you have to pay for special exhibitions (£5 adults, children free).

Museum of London is free, and has loads on the Great Fire of London

good to tie in with the Monument (tho gf display thingy might well be a bit scary- my 4yo had to be carted out!)

Thanks so much for all the ideas. Knew I could rely on you lovely ladies!

Think the monument is a must. She'll love that, I've already showed her the link. Love the sound of the Museum of London too.

Geffrye museum looks good for a few years time, but I'd have to take my 2yo as well and I think it might not be so quiet with her there too!

My dad has suggested V&A museum of childhood too so might try and fit that in if we've got time.
