What could I put above an olive tree on the stairs?

Hi everyone

So the wall that you see as your going up the stairs is annoying me trying to find something that will look right with my olive tree , I really like my olive tree here and it doesn't get in our way going up stairs but I've tried 2 photos one above the other but it looked wrong , then I tried a large photo there but it just didn't look right. What could I put above the olive tree that will suit? Don't want a mirror there and I tried a wall lamp and that didn't look right either.

I think the tree looks weird there

Like someone mentioned, Chat GPT is really good at this sort of thing...

You are clever. Love this.

I think maybe a rectangular framed picture or oval.

I think I’m in the minority but I like my stairs to be empty, I don’t hang artwork or anything. So I vote leave as is.

If you want to keep the olive tree there I’d get a more interesting pot to put it in, maybe a rattan or wicker one, or a colour? I think the dark pot is making the dark corner even darker. Maybe get artificial moss or something to cover the base.

I also think changing the rail to a natural wood would be really nice and would make a big difference. I wonder if the sticky back plastic wood effect would work for an easy DIY?

Like this I'd properly hang it a little higher so it's not not right near the tree.

This is nice, landscape balances better @MerryRobin but I wouldn't hang the picture higher, it looks proportionate with your olive tree.

Would a decorative plant stand work?

It may have worked however DH has put a spanner in the works and actually confessed he doesn't like the tree there he agrees it's not in the way he just doesn't like it there he agrees with @MyLuckyPeachOtter he prefers nothing on the stairs but he knows that would drive me nuts so has said If we could compromise by moving the tree and putting a longer artwork like some pieces he's seen online where the long set of 3 framed canvas arts he's found one from Next he thinks I'll like have to look at it first. So looks like the tree is moving to the window in my office room my desk is right near the window so it will have a much bigger corner to itself.

@MyLuckyPeachOtter i agree we are changing the banister to oak it's a solid wood bainster handrail so we are stripping the paint off and going to go e it a lovely rustic aged oak look and the brackets are going to be changed to antique brass gold ones were also changing our walls too I'm going for skimming stone and all the wood work will be painted a warmer white instead of the bright white it is now.

I've looked at the artwork DH likes and thought I would like and I do it suits my country style and will fit comfortably over the wall both width and height and so I've agreed with him I'm moving the olive tree to go next to my desk in my office so it now will have more space and light ( not that it needs it as it's a fake tree) but I can at least see the beautiful green colour on the leaves more and the black olives.

Here's the artwork I'm going to buy for here plus he suggested we get a brass picture light to put above so we can see the artwork at night without the main lights always on and it will look like a gallery wall then.
