Help! We still have a student bedroom and are in our 40s!

I've just bought a bedding set from dunelm which is white with green leaves on it. Any suggestions for other things I could buy to brighten up our bedroom?

We have a tiny bedroom with grey/green tongue in groove halfway up the wall, white everywhere else. We pulled up the carpet hoping to find beautiful floorboards but they are wrecked beyond saving so I'm looking for a large rug, maybe green? We have a wardrobe mirror door leaning against the wall as our mirror and zero storage. A black metal IKEA bed and two IKEA beside tables. All ancient.

I feel we have a student bedroom!! Help!

Pooky - lovely though they are - cost a fortune, though. For a surprisingly good range of interesting lighting at a fraction of the cost, I recommend OP tries Wayfair.

I hear you (although imo they're mid range, price-wise), but they often have good deals in their sales. I've also picked up a few Pooky bargains on eBay etc - I got a £150 shade for under £40 there a couple of months back.

Lots of high street stores (john lewis, homesense/tk maxx, dunelm, next etc) have similar styles now too. I've not bought anything from wayfair for years and find the website too hard to navigate lol...

I think texture could be your friend. A toning throw for the bottom of the bed? And then a few extra cushions at the top.

If the bedframe is good quality then you could spray/ paint it to a less black colour

I think for a bedroom that doesn't get much foot traffic you can to a bit cheaper for a rug because it's not needing to stand up to much.

The mirror wardrobe situation needs to go! If you want a mirror have a wall mounted one or get a free standing. Id be tempted to visit an antique shop/ market for some art and little trays for your bedside tables (makes the clutter feel.more intentional)

Once you're finished it will feel well worth the effort.

I wouldn't get it because a lot of the reviews says it needs ironing as looks crumpled after washing. The Sainsbury's ones don't need ironing after washing and you can get some bold colour ones.

Crap. I've bought it and put it in the wash before putting it on the bed already.......

Thanks everyone for their comments and suggestions. I'll have a look and try to come back individually if necessary.

A friend does holiday let changeovers. She uses one of those clothes steamers on the bedding. Works brilliantly she said. So I bought one this week at Lidl. Haven't tried it yet on bedding.

I've just put it on the bed and it does look creased..... I can see it would look nicer ironed but I'm never going to do that so I'm leaning into the crumpled look.....

Agree the mirror leaning on the wall needs to go, it's really bad.... literally a removed wardrobe door complete with stickers and paint blobs 😂

Our room is difficult as we are in the eaves so the longest wall has the shortest straight height, probably only 3 foot of wall then the eaves slope inwards. The opposite wall has a massive radiator. We only have one wall to put the bed which part overlaps a window.

I'll try Gemini 👍

This really does feel made for AI! Would there be room for a free standing one. Or even if you must have one mount it on the back of your bedroom door.

Id lean in (no pun intended) to bring in the eaves.

I also don't ever iron bedding. If it was really bothers you get a mini steamer
