New Sofa

Need some perspective. Please be kind.

DH & I are moving soon into a new house. DH has been out & bought us a new sofa, which tbh is absolutely not to my taste at all. The colour & style are not what I'd have chosen.

For context, I'm housebound due to a broken limb, so could not join him on this shopping expedition.

Do I suck it up, seeing as he has paid for it out of his own money or am I right to be mildly annoyed I didn't get a say? This is not a deal breaker, I'm just curious how others would feel.

i spend a lot of time on the sofa and would want a say in both how it looks and how comfy it is tbh! I wouldn’t be happy with that. Did he go out specifically to look for a sofa knowing he was choosing without you, or was it an impulse buy? Could he not have sent you a photo to double check?

When we moved into our first home, DH chose and bought a bed without consulting me. My problem wasn't with the bed itself - it wasn't what I would've chosen, but I could've very happily lived with it. My problem was the fact that he didn't bother asking me what kind of bed I'd like to sleep on for the next few decades of my/our lives. We were still within the return window, so back it went, and we chose something together instead. It wasn't malicious on his part, but it was thoughtless, and I felt I had to put my foot down to show him that he needed to involve me in decisions like this going forward. He grew up watching his DF making all the decisions for his DM, so a bit of reprogramming was needed!

He sent me a picture of said sofa AFTER he had bought it. We'd discussed sofas, as we knew we needed one but the one he purchased was nothing like we said we might want.
