DO NOT USE LITTLE GREENE INTELLIGENT EGGSHELL 2in1 PAINT

I am a loyal customer of many years, my experience with this paint has been terrible. In May my painter decorated my whole kitchen using Little Green products. He prepared the cupboards as he usually would and applied 2 coats with a roller and brushed after. On the cupboards he used the New 2in1 eggshell (previously painted in Little Green eggshell). On the island I chose a different colour and was painted in Itelligent eggshell (not 2in1). All this was done while I was away on holiday. 5 days later we returned, I noticed within a few hours of being home marks around the cupboard handles, on further inspection I noticed the paint was chipping off. Over the next few days more and more marks appeared where the paint was coming off. There was no issue on the Island paint - 5 month later still no problem.

I contacted Little Greene and sent photos and receipts, description from my painter, a quote to repaint etc. They asked me to return the paint to them so they could test it, which I did. Eventually I was contacted and one of their technicians came and viewed my kitchen. He brought with him the test results that showed no issue with the paint according to their test. Not much help to me! As I pointed out to him, the island had been prepared and painted in exactly the same conditions as the cupboards. The only difference was the paint!!!! So why was the paint peeling off - literally it scratches off. The technician took further photos and said he wanted me to be happy so would source a can of the old style paint (not 2in1) to try out and would speak to his bosses regarding compensation. The paint arrived, tested it and agreed all good. The technician has since been on compassionate leave so have had not further contact with him.
After many weeks of chasing I have finally had the outcome. Little Greene have basically washed there hands of it. The test results show the paint was fine so no further action. I have received no compensation to cover the cost of putting this right, other than they sent me a can of the dreaded 2in1 paint - which I certainly will not be using. They have not answered the question of why the island paint has no issue but basically the cupboard paint has failed.

The worse thing is, if the island had not been painted in a different paint I would of taken their word for it that my painter had not prepared it properly!!!! A painter I have been using for 20 years.
A very very unhappy customer

Little Greene have since been in touch, with a satisfactory resolution. 🙂

That's a very strange colour of undercoat to use...

In fairness to LG I think that you need to ask for this post to be removed.

The eggshell was 2 in 1 so no undercoat needed.

Please expand their resolution, so the rest of us can avoid or follow new guidance notes on prep.

Looks like it wasn’t primed properly before painting

The 2 in 1 doesn't need an undercoat, so presumably that's the previous colour. And anyway, Little Greene do undercoats in the exact same colours as their top coats so if she'd used an undercoat that would suggest both under and top coat hadn't worked.
