Home decoration

Home decor content on insta. Where are their TVs? Their bookcases full of books? Their kids play debris?!

Anyone else wonder this?

I love looking on Instagram at people's decorating for inspiration, my house is currently "landlord magnolia" in every single room and I'm looking at repainting finally, but I do wish there were a few pages I could follow that looked like people actually lived in their houses!

I think I'm somewhere in-between minimalist and maximalist. I don't have hoards of stuff as I don't like lots of clutter. But we have a tv in the lounge, lots of books, toys, kids drawing stuff, etc etc.

I'd love inspo on using the space well that we have, but nothing looks like how my home is, if that makes sense.

I've been looking at living rooms or front rooms and they all just feel like show homes as there's no signs of everyday life in them. They're beautifully decorated and curated in terms of art, and accessories though!

If anyone has any recommendations of pages to follow that are more realistic I would love to hear them.

And if they do have a tv it’s in the corner where you can’t see it if your sitting on the sofa - makes no sense

I don’t think I’ve seen them without tvs but often these homes have other rooms where the books are eg an office/second more formal living room! Also they tidy up

Not that we're anywhere finished renovating our downsize cottage yet, so can't share a pic, but our tv is in an upstairs room not in the ground floor living room.

Admittedly, there's just two of us at home these days, which means we were able to sacrifice the largest bedroom to be a tv room/snug. Our books, however (and we've got loads) will be on full view in the downstairs living room.

Any guests, apart from family/close friends, will only get to see the 'relatively curated' downstairs living space...which will be full of stuff as we're maximslists!

Have a look at Samsung Frame. When TV is off it looks like a painting/ whatever art you select to display ( they have a large collection to suit any taste). It does not look just like a screensaver, it actually shows textures and can select borders etc.
