What "alternative" things / design / furniture do you have in your home that work?

Hiya, I'll be starting with a blank canvas soon and am looking for some inspiration.

I guess I'm thinking along the lines of:
no sofa (cushions, indoor hammock, bean bags, chairs), no TV - but watch films (tablet / projector/ concealed), huge indoor plants, lighting (fairy lights, LEDs), picture hanging ideas, flooring coverings (lots of small rugs), where to sit and eat other than a formal table.

I have no children to worry about risks, anything considered, I might end up with just a regular interior but open to explore any alternatives or unusual things people have found and love. Low to mid range budget and am open to secondhand furniture.

A Murphy bed. It folds up discreetly against the wall and looks like wardrobes.
Normal mattress so better than a sofa bed.
