Have you painted a lounge/ other room in plaster pink/ beige colour?

Can you say what you felt about the end result? What direction did the room face? Also, what colour were your sofa/ armchairs please? Top points for anyone kind enough to post me a picture of such a room.

Also, I'd be particularly interested if you needed to use breathable paint and if so, can you let me know the range and name of the colour?

I have soft stone on 3 of my walls in the living room, it's like a pale pink. My couch is like a beige with very slight threads of pink, brown and some other colours in there. I love it, all goes together well. Id say a brown or beige couch would go well

I'm deleting the rest of this post as you will he able to see from the original one post edit that I entirely misread the OP and thought it asked for ayone who had painted their lounge in a colour other than pale pink. D'oh. My reply makes no sense!

My neighbour has used F&B Setting Plaster - it’s so lovely. Works really well with green. On the F&B site they have example of how they’ve used this colour
Good luck @RememberBeKindWithKaren !

I have a south-facing living room in F and B Dead Salmon (a pinky browny beige) — it’s lighter and pinker in strong southern light. I considered F and B Setting Plaster for the same room. The room has dull gold velvet curtains, stripped floorboards and kilims in pinks and golds.

Setting plaster, works with muted green and off white. If you look on F&B it shows you suggested complementary colours.

BebbanburgIsMine · 08/06/2025 23:06

I have Dulux Pressed Petal on 3 of my living room walls. It’s like a dusky pink, the other wall is decorated in pink “Whispering Trees” wallpaper, I can’t remember the brand.

It is the first house I have ever been able to have someone in to do the painting and decorating, due to my financial situation, and it felt great!

DD2 lives with me and we both love pink, so pink it had to be! Her sofa is a light beige kind of colour, and mine is a light pink.

We have Setting Plaster in a N facing
bedroom/study

I tried Setting Plaster and Pink Ground in S facing but they were too peachy in S facing. Colder pinks worked better in S facing

I tried Setting Plaster in my north-facing, small-windowed living room and it looked more like Dead Salmon

FloweryCactus · 08/06/2025 23:14

F&B Sulking Room Pink on the walls of my south facing (but shaded) dining room. I love it. Looks atmospheric in evening light / candlelight too.
Room was previously painted F&B Cinder Rose which looked like what I wanted on the colour card but in reality was far too pink.

LibertyLily · 08/06/2025 23:14

At our previous house we painted our fairly large bathroom F&B Setting Plaster. We colour drenched the room as the ceiling was quite sloping/angular and therefore hard to work out where the wall colour should stop/ceiling colour start. Window and all other joinery also Setting Plaster.

We had green accents in the room (window seat cushion and small table beside the bath for wine!) and it looked lovely. Not sure if I can find a pic.

Our bedroom in that house was Little Greene Roman Plaster - far more beige than Setting Plaster.

We recently moved and will be painting our living room Edward Bulmer Nicaragua, which is a deep, earthy pink. No pics as only just started the work. Our hall, stairs and landing will also be Edward Bulmer (Jonquil - which is quite similar to Setting Plaster).

Edward Bulmer colours are supposedly breathable, although despite being Georgian, all our internal walls are 1960s 'modern' plaster, so it probably makes little difference.

I have setting plaster in south facing living room and I feel it works well!

Here's a couple of pics of our old bathroom and one of the bedroom.

Thanks to everyone who's answered. A lot of love for setting plaster, sulking room pink and dead salmon. I can imagine there are some beautiful rooms with these colours. Not sure why I'm hesitating. Well one reason is we have a ,id-blue sofa and beige armchairs, so can't quite picture this colour combo. No real serious reservation I suppose.

Thanks minipie. Do you mean you prefer a cooler pink than a more peachy/ yellowy pink? I think I'd be aiming for a beigey- pink.

@LibertyLily thanks so much! Beautiful rooms. I love the light fittings too. I've looked up Edward Bulmer paints and it says they are breathable. Wow! Even more choice. Yes, jonquil looks lovely. Lots more colours to consider. Thanks again.

Yes I’d lean towards cooler pinks for S or W facing rooms (they will look warmer there) and peachy/yellowy pinks for N facing.

Eico paints are breathable

We have Valspar “pink alabaster” in DD1’s room and I love it. When we moved in our family room was painted in Sulking Room Pink and it drove me bonkers because the floor was totally the wrong shade of wood and it felt too orangey. I did really like the colour, but we couldn’t afford to redo the floor so the paint had to go. I would have liked it with a different wood floor, or a pale carpet.

You're welcome @RememberBeKindWithKaren...and thank you for the compliments 😊

We have cobalt blue curtains (they were there first) and setting plaster on the bedroom walls, gets lots of sun. Works fine - we were struggling to find a colour that complemented the large curtains

FettleOfKish · 09/06/2025 22:32

I have, and since our flat is on the market here’s a photo. It’s dulux blush pink and I love it! The room faces west and is full of light in the afternoon and evening.

I have Dulux Soft Stone in my south facing living room and hall. Everyone else loves it. It is very easy to live with but a bit more subtle than I wanted. I have a dark grey sofa and a pale green armchair.

RememberBeKindWithKaren · 10/06/2025 07:43

@FettleOfKish ah thanks for your pic.thats really helpful. Similar colour seats to what we have herw so yes I think it would work. Thanks 😊
