Avoid this company at all costs!
I had a horrendous experience with Hillarys. I ordered six blinds on 31/10/2024, after being told they would be much easier to operate than my existing ones. Unfortunately, this was far from the case. The blinds were finally fitted on 09/12/2024, and I immediately contacted Hillarys to highlight several major issues.
First off, the blinds were not fit for purpose—they were impossible to open or close because they couldn't even reach properly. On top of that, the blinds didn't align properly with each other, and the cord hooks weren’t straight. I was shocked by the incompetence of the installation.
Despite numerous emails and phone calls, there was no resolution or goodwill from Hillarys. Eventually, the blinds were removed, but it was a nightmare. I had purchased these blinds as a matching set for both upstairs and downstairs, but I was informed that the upstairs blinds would not be removed, and any replacement blinds wouldn’t match the ones already installed. I paid a £450 deposit but was refunded only £252.35—along with an unwanted blind.
The customer service throughout has been appalling. Not only was there no resolution or compensation for the inconvenience, but the company has shown no care for the damage done to my ceiling during the blind removal, leaving me with holes in my ceiling.
I’m deeply dissatisfied and extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism. I will never be using Hillarys again, and I highly recommend you avoid them as well.

I found the same.
Ordered a blind in jan 2020 - this was measured and fitted v well by the same person, and all great.

Ordered another couple of blinds in around 2022. They were slow, then it was fitted the wrong way round, then I complained. As you say, poor customer service with long periods of nothing happening . Took ages to resolve- about 9 months.

Can you go back to them to get things fully resolved?

I think they must have made the ppl who knew what they were doing redundant at some point, possibly after lockdown.

Hilarys have held on to £800 of my deposit for over 4 weeks despite them telling me they can't fulfill my order. Rubbish customer service who take 72 hours to respond to an email
Advise avoiding them.

I had a bad experience with Hillary's many years ago. I wanted a roller blind installed in DS's bedroom. The window had secondary double glazing and the blind was installed on the inside of the recess which meant we couldn't open the window as the roller got in the way. To be fair, I think I might have initially suggested this, but I would have expected the guy to have realised it wasn't workable!

I got back in touch with him and he refused to change it, so I contacted head office and they sent a guy out who installed a replacement. I definitely wouldn't use them again!

This is why I always research independent reviews (ie not social media influencers) before buying, even if I see a good offer on a service.

Have you tried gettiong your money back from your credit card company. I do this every time I'm having difficulties with a retailer.
