I have someone from Hammonds coming next week to discuss some fitted wardrobes.

They currently have a good sale which I'm trying to take advantage of.

Has anyone got any experience with them? Any good?

I've looked at lots of alternatives such as Ikea and tried to find a local carpenter.

Don’t accept the first offer. It is always inflated.

We have used them very recently and were so pleased that we have booked them to do another room.
The furniture looks beautiful and, I have to say, we were expecting a kind of turn up, everything pre-cut, kind of service, but the 2 guys who worked on separate rooms have been really skilful carpenters who worked hard to provide some really bespoke furniture and work around a few tricky issues.
One room included a window seat and desk as well as a wardrobe and everything is perfect.
DH has balls of steel when it comes to negotiating, whereas I cringe. However, he pushed and we ended up with almost 50% off (perhaps helped a bit by the volume we were ordering).

Another good experience here. We got one set of wardrobes done and loved them so booked them to come back to do some more. As pp has said - there is room to negotiate but the price is reasonable and the carpenters they use are meticulous and tidy.

Thank you! I'm delighted to hear it. They already have a 50% off sale so if I can negotiate further, I will. I'm happy to beat them down on price as I have a limited budget.

I also have possible further work which I can use as a carrot.

Could do with some advice.

Hammonds have just left. Designs are perfect.

Original price was £5, 800
Reductions due to sales was £3,500
Discount after asking was 3k

It's two alcove wardrobes with shelves, hanging rails, shoe storage, drawers and upper storage.

They would like a decision by Thursday. Do you think I could get more off?

It is really down to your negotiation skills and if you feel that is a good price or not (I am sure you have done your homework comparing quality/prices/etc) ! I am not great and would consider that a good bargain, but my husband would probably call back to say he's ready to sign the contract today if they can confirm £2,800 :)!

We used them few years ago and I really can't remember the discount we negotiated. However, the work was done fantastically. We are VERY picky with this type of furniture (we are expacts from a country with high standards for furniture, and my husband family worked for generations in the industry) and we absolutely loved the quality, the attention to detail and how skilled they are. Also, we had a minor problem afterwards and they sent the same guy who fitted the furniture piece back within days. He assessed the problem and worked on it, but he wasn't satisfied of the end result and requested another specialist in that particular issue to come and visit us on an other occasion. The aftercare is unreal.

They got back to me and offered another £480 off. That's around £2,500.

I asked for a further discount 😋

Well that didn't work out. They rescinded that offer and told me their final offer was £2,900. I had to accept that offer by midnight tonight so I turned them down.

I've received a load of quotes from carpenters based on the Hammonds design and they're not only around the same price, they're MDF and have no 10 year guarantee.

So I made an appointment with IKEA for today and will order their Pax range and get a carpenter to make it fitted. I'll base it on the Hammonds design.
