To buy the pretty candles but never burn them - am I alone?

I love candles and sometimes buy them, not just scented ones but also pretty pillar or long candles but just keep them on the mantlepiece looking nice (and collecting dust) because I feel it's a waste to burn them. I'd like to just enjoy them but something stops me from doing that, any other crazy person like me?

I also don't feel fully free because I have a 4yo at home and a cat so obv it's an added risk. But I visited a friend in Stockholm last winter and she had dozens of candles lit all around her flat, she always does it and creates such a magical atmosphere I have to say.

What are your fav candle brands?

I have some candles that are just for decor and I don’t light, but I do light candles every day as I love the cosiness of a candle and the scent, but I am very particular as a lot give me headaches.
I love Neom candles but they are £££ so I don’t buy them very often although sometimes find a bargain on Vinted. I like the lavender and bedtime scents for my bedroom in the evenings.
I also love the Home bargains gingerbread candles and everyone associates them with our home as I always have them on the go, and definitely when the kids are coming home from uni as it feels homely to them. I buy them about 8 at a time when they are in stock as they only have them in at Christmas and Easter. (They are called hot cross bun at Easter but are the exact same as gingerbread). They don’t seem to give me or anyone else a headache so I stick with what we know and like.
will watch this thread as I do like a recommendation, especially for soy wax candles.

i also have lots of the fake candles as well, I have some tall ones in lanterns and some other tea light ones with remote controls and timers, they come on for 8 hours in the late afternoon so it looks really cosy in the evening but you don’t have to faff about about turning them all on and off, that might be good for you with a child as no worry about the naked flames. Can get them on Amazon, Wilirigir is the make I think.

I buy lots of candles and always burn them . I do then keep the vessels and plant bulbs in them . I prefer 3 wick candles for a better throw . I buy Neom , Diptique , Jo Malone and Chase and wonder .

I'll use candles more in the summer when I'm not lighting the fire.

Candles look nice, but they aren't very healthy. You're basically polluting the air in your house.

I'm the same OP! Rarely do I think, oh let's light a candle! My husband does occasionally if he's trying to overpower another smell.

I don't even use the nice wax melts my son bought me because I don't want them to be gone... but then I don't really use the wax melt burner thingy at all!
