I want to find some modern (but not ugly) lights for my living room. Can you help?

I’ve been decorating and feel like I want to update everything- my lights just seem so old fashioned now.

I'd love some inspiration. Some would say my tastes are boring (scandi, cream walls, wood tones), but I love the calm, peace of it all (it was wallpapered brightly - feature wall type decor) now it’s the total opposite.

I need floor lights/ table lamp (not sure whether to go back to having wall lights: the wires were visible and ugly and I don’t want to ruin the look of the walls (now smooth and matte)

You might like this type they are quite modern and scandi- there's lots of different ones if you search mushroom flowerpot touch lamp:

I think I want something made in 'natural' materials - ie not plastics. So predominantly wood/ metal/ glass. That sort of thing. Thank you.

Fair enough, that John Lewis one I linked to was made from steel.

Would you feel comfortable posting a picture of the room?
My tastes are different to yours (Edwardian house, high ceilings, ceiling roses, picture rails, era appropriate colours etc you'd probably think it was too bright/busy 😁), but I think it's easier to see what would go with what you have than just suggest things at random

Ah - I didn't look at the description. From the photo it looked like plastic. Thank you.

There’s nothing to see at the moment - just decorating mess. I’m just noticing that my old stuff is starting to look tired as things get renewed.

I’ve got a couple of glass table lamps from Loaf which sound like they might suit your aesthetic. Also, Ikea have some rattan lamps that are surprisingly good (I’ve got a couple of those too!) Either would give you that clean, natural, ‘scandi’ feel.

Thank you for the links.

I've been having a think and I think what I’m after are lamps/ lights that have very clean lines - almost minimalistic.

I want to make my home cosy with lighting, not make a statement with the actual lights themselves.
