How would you style this kitchen?

I am renovating this cottage for holiday lets. The red oven is quite over powering but im trying to avoid replacing it just yet.

I think the red and yellow looks dated but the paintwork is very new. Considering repairs ing the cupboards?

Any ideas?

It looks like there is a space between the cabinets and the ceiling. If so, could you get that filled in somehow? A lot of dust and grunge accumulates in a space like that.

It's a holiday let so you need something easy and cheap to do with the best return on investment.

You need to get rid of the yellow on the walls, it's a lovely colour but it jars with the red - go for white or an off white as other posters have suggested.

To tie it together then I would then get a vintage looking stencil and paint the tiles with a black pattern to create something like the picture below.

I found a picture of a red oven against a similar green - cabinets rather than walls - I do wonder though if your green would make the whole kitchen rather dark - you need to scroll down a bit to find it?https://www.bestonlinecabinets.com/blog/best-scandinavian-kitchen-design-ideas-for-2020/

Duck egg blue tends to look good with red although might be a bit Cath Kidstonish if you don't like that vibe.

You are right the red with blue would be too CK for me and it's strange because I own lots from that brand

That's a good spot. I will just add it to the list of grime I'm tackling and there has been a lot!!

I've hired a pro cleaner for when all the decorating etc is done but I'm not there yet.

Hi everyone thank you so much for the much needed input. I think I need to get some testers. I think I'm going with the off white advice which is essentially what I wanted to paint the whole house with but the paintwork was so new.

I don't want the cream to look grubby so I will need to be careful with this.

Ideally I would paint the tiles but since we have a patch of damp that's about a5 size I'm getting a quote from my builder to retile the kitchen. Otherwise I will def paint them.

This has been such a helpful thread thank you xx

I would go for a white with a hint of pink.

But I would use the Dulux visualiser app rather than buy loads of tester pots.

To be honest the oven doesn't look like it fits properly- looks to be a gap at the top.
I'd replace the oven with a new mid range one and leave everything else as is for now .
Everything else will add up cost wise and not properly be that different to just replacing the issue.

There is a gap at the top. The job is separate and integrated. I might price up an electric oven it would be less bloody hassle!

Hint of pink is a great shout thank you- easier to style the red on a pink to red spectrum and east to dress with flowers for the agency pics thank you

Hi everyone just popped back to give an update as I went with the pink idea. It looks super bare right now but you get the idea. I'm much happier with a red to white spectrum of colour it was great advice xxx

Perfect colour for the space. What a change!

trickyex · 09/06/2024 22:29

Perfect. Looks charming. Well done

Walkthelakes · 09/06/2024 23:35

Lovely. Very soft and calm. The pink weirdly goes beautiful with the red.

Strangely it doesn't jar with the yellow and the joining line from the stairs - it brings the yellow down somehow and looks more pastel. I'm going to choose some ceramic door handles next for the cupboards but it's a huge step forward - mn wins again ❤️
