I'm just wondering what people think of this style now? I love it ( it's my back room) but not sure whether it would be considered really dated now.

Nice rug but why is there a hole where the fire should be ?

We really can't all be changing our houses constantly just because of fashion. 22 million pieces of furniture are thrown away every year in the UK, that's insane. Do you love the things in your house, that is all that matters, not what the latest trend is. And filling your house with preloved things as you have done means your house might never be fully 'on trend' whatever that means but it will be unique and special to you.

If you want to freshen it up a bit then maybe paint a bit of furniture or the fire surround or the walls and 'shop your home' and swap things about a bit. But buying all Spring 2024 interiors stuff will make your room a lot blander and make it very easy to date in 5 years. It looks lovely as it is.

You can shop on a budget and stick to a style you like.

The small chair is lovely and needs a better place so it’s useable.

I don’t like tvs on the wall - it doesn’t go with the style:

The benches are too harsh for a mismatched comfy room - they don’t scream comfort!

The curtains are too dart and the fireplace need colors.

It looks dated in a good way. Cosy and I’d expect to see shelves of books and interesting wall art. I’d declutter the fireplace a little and tidy the wires. Maybe add a shelf as a nod to a mantle piece. I’ve done this over radiators with a mirror over a floating shelf.

Table is out of place. You can buy decent second hand online - I upcycled an Ercol table and four chairs found on eBay and gumtree. Total £150ish. Another dining table and chairs cost about £30 on eBay, sanded and oiled the top and painted legs and chairs with left over paint. You could get away with light or dark wood.
