DH wants to paint over wallpaper

He's wrong isn't he? I don't mean wallpaper like textured paper either. I mean patterned AND textured. It'll look crap won't it? He reckons walls shot at under it. I cannot see it working. I may just strip it when he's out ...

I think it is doable as long as you use the right primer. There's a zinsser one that claims to prevent wallpaper from bubbling up.
If the wallpaper is in terrible order though remove it. Only worth painting over it if it is in ok condition.

Only strip it if you can plaster. We stripped all the walls in our house of ancient wallpaper and they’ve all needed replastering. Dh taught himself to do it as we went along
