Which bathroom tiles?

I'm at the start of thinking about doing my bathroom, and struggling to choose tiles. I've ordered samples and they should be arriving next week.

For context: Our house is Victorian with an overall traditional look, but each room has a pop of yellow, and I want the bathroom to make a real statement.

I've narrowed down my options and I'd love to get your thoughts. Also open to suggestions if anyone finds any others...

Options are: A | B | C | D

(Is a yellow bathroom a bit out there?!)

ZenNudist · 25/01/2024 23:02

B or C

A not great

D hideous

AbsoluteMoronsEverywhere · 25/01/2024 23:04

D looks like what was in the middle school toilets when I was a teen . Off-putting.

Love C though

Userxyd · 25/01/2024 23:06

I love A and the wallpaper
B seems nicotine colour and not great
C looks a bit officey
D looks a bit cheap!
Sorry OP- what is your gut feel??

Assuming you're planning to tile around the bath/shower area, C may prove to difficult to clean, given all the ridges/channels along the 'flutes'? They looks lovely though!

A or D
Don't like other 2...

Sorry, but I don't like any of them! Having just re-done bathrooms during a major renovation, I'm SO glad we got larger tiles and less grout. Much easier to clean, makes the room appear larger and less busy. Ours is 1920's, so we kept period features with accessories/handles/mirrors etc. Not major things like the tiles.

I'd get a brighter yellow, or keep the yellow to accessories- blind, towels, mirror frame etc, plus larger tiles.

Oh I’m so sorry, how embarrassing!

Don't be embarrassed.

A or C but the colour…reminds me of not-nice bathroom related things. A reminds me least of those things.

LoobyDop · 26/01/2024 10:58

Smaller tiles are fine for cleaning effort as long as you don’t use white grout- that’s what makes the difference. I’m not sure what colour you’d use with yellow- maybe a greigey neutral?

howlismoving · 26/01/2024 13:25

I really like A and think it will work if the rest of the house is traditional, and D would be my second choice! The other two options don't sound as in keeping with how you've described the rest of your decor but it's hard to tell.

So nearly 9 months on, after some careful consideration I did decide to abandon the idea of yellow tiles in the main bathroom...

However, I am now the proud owner of a downstairs cloakroom with soviet era institution tiles @Catsfrontbum 😂
