Show me your non-grey stair carpets!

I’m planning to redecorate my hallway and staircase and I’m in desperate need of some inspiration.

It’s currently white walls with a grey carpet that hasn’t been touched since I moved in and which I loathe. My instinct would be to go beigey neutral but a) it’s a little boring and I’d like something a bit more interesting, and b) I have a dog so it can’t be too light as I couldn’t bear it looking dirty.

For some reason, I have a rich, plummy red wine colour in my head but I wouldn’t have a clue what paint or wallpaper would go with it. I’m open to any and all suggestions though! It’s a relatively small space with not a huge amount of natural light if that makes a difference.

Just for comparison purposes, here’s my runner which is oatmeal with a black edge.

@DappledThings wnere is your carpet from please? love the colour.

Sorry, I can't remember the brand or anything. It's from a local independent.

Our carpet is an oatmeal slub. It is very forgiving and works well with our yellow lab. No one is allowed outdoors shoes up the stairs but as it's mostly just me, DH and the dog at home now it's fine.

Those with stripes, do you continue the striped carpet on the landing too?

We went for a non-grey neutral in hard wearing fabric (excuse the cat posing but even though it’s looped carpet she doesn’t destroy it with her claws). I’d have preferred hard flooring because we batter our carpets but this has turned out to be a good alternative, wasn’t cheap though. Personally I’d steer clear of a non-neutral colour because I can change paint/accessories more easily than carpet when I inevitably change my mind.

Yes, our stripes go up the stairs, and continue in the same direction on the landing. But then we have a second flight, at 90° to the first set. The lines change, and go up the second flight too.
If they continued as per the first flight and landing, the lines would run across the stairs.

Tiles in the hall.

Yes, then it turns down a corridor off the landing to the spare room and the stripe turns through 90 degrees too.

See this is what I’d go for if I went neutral but I’d be worried it was too light. Saying that, we don’t allow outdoor shoes inside and my doggy is always cleaned or showered after a walk so it might not be an issue.

Thanks everyone.
