Decor wise? For kitchen/dining/front room.

Building work is ongoing but day dreaming about the finished look.

Wooden kitchen work tops
Plate rack
Butlers sink

Button back sofa

Limestone flooring

Antique brass finishes/details

William Morris rug

If money were no object, I'm a fan of the devol kitchens. Love their country style. Also like pearl Lowe for country glam.

Oh god I totally agree! Every time they need to be sanded and sealed AGAIN, I regret not just getting something bombproof.

An inbuilt window seat looking out into the garden

Underfloor heating

Agree re wooden worktops- absolute nightmare

FlyingCherub · 18/12/2023 21:44

Don't go with wood worktops. DH drives me insane when he decides to sand and varnish the fuckers... usually on Christmas Eve or when we've got visitors Hmm I would never have them again especially around the sink.

I like mixing fabrics - floral and plaids go well in a country cottage, with soft neutrals.

Having had the pretty country cottage with the wooden worktops I'd absolutely never want those worktops again- they're a complete nightmare! I'd want underfloor heating and very carefully considered storage- there's almost never enough in cottages unless someone has planned it all very carefully and cleverly. Luckily with old cottages you often have nooks and crannies you can turn into cute little cupboards and storage cubby holes.
Other than that, lots of natural tactile materials; real wood, linen, wool, wicker. The Sims Hilditch look would be my dream look if I had the budget!

Love the window seat idea- making that happen!

Underfloor heating is in.

Storage is good point, I want an under the stairs hallway cupboard to hide shoes and coats.

My DH doesn't want wooden work tops again so we've agreed on basic they are cheaper with company we use, that we'll change to hardy worktops when they look done in on next five years or so.

Panelling is another good idea

Heritage colours will look at.
