We were advised to go for gloss as apparently easier to clean with a young family. Not quite finished but here it is. Hmm.. what do you think? Before is just wood cabinets I painted during lockdown.

Looks lovely OP.

Lovely layout and as I'm sure you've seen from other posts gloss can show up a lot. Suggest you get one of the electric cleaning brushes and they have a buffer for the type pad for cleaning. Makes for a quick clean and buffs the presses up nicely.

If I could go back 5 years I would NEVER have had gloss cabinets and floor.
They drive me mad, the fingerprints especially as DH can’t seem to just touch the handles 🙄

Looks great. I've had a cream gloss kitchen for the past 9 years and I've found it really easy to keep clean. It is a north facing room so doesn't have sunlight coming in which probably helps with me not noticing any streaks!

Get an eco mirror cleaning cloth and it’ll buff the fingerprints away quickly. Looks lovely op.

return2sender · 12/11/2023 20:38

Love it! We have gloss and it's so easy to clean! Fingerprints don't show either.

shoeawsome · 12/11/2023 20:47

I have a gloss kitchen, it doesn't show fingerprints!

hby9628 · 12/11/2023 21:03

We have something similar & it's pretty easy to clean. The fridge does get quite a few handprints but they wipe away easily
Looks lovely.

It looks fabulous!

I’ve had a white gloss kitchen since my dc were born and have found it really easy to look after and keep clean. Just a simple white down and it’s fine again! It’s now 15 years old and still immaculate 😁

I prefer the before photo personally, it looks cosier with more character.

But from the fingerprints point of view my parents have a gloss kitchen now and it always looks spotless. I don't think they're obsessive cleaners so I don't think it takes too much.

wineandmaltesershappyme · 12/11/2023 21:43

Gorgeous. I buff off marks with a dry microfibre cloth, super easy.

Alissia · 12/11/2023 21:47

I have kitchen envy OP. Just use a dry microfibre cloth.

We have recently had a new kitchen, old one was gloss, new one is Matt. I point blank refused to get gloss due to little sticky fingers. I love my kitchen but guess what, no matter the surface sticky fingers still leave their mark! It's unavoidable

MonsteraMama · 12/11/2023 21:58

We got rid of our gloss and granite and replaced with wood and butcher block because I got absolutely sick to death of every fingerprint, smudge and dog nose print showing up on the gloss. Felt like I spent every second of my life wiping the fucking things and polishing the granite.

I find my wood cabinets and butcher block infinitely lower maintenance. Sorry OP but I don't think the showroom lady has ever met a child.

fuckmyuteruslining · 12/11/2023 22:01

Our kitchen designer said don't get gloss if you're actually going to use the kitchen. I think your advisor was confused op!

fuckmyuteruslining · 12/11/2023 22:02

I also think your worktop is too dark I'm afraid.
