Garland and decorative outdoor lighting for autumn and winter, white or warm or what?

Now that the nights are drawing in slightly, I'm about to invest in some outdoor decorative lighting such as strings of lights and lights for my terrace and garden to illuminate various trees and I am confused about which "shade" I should go for ... warm yellow, or bright white or what?

Are there are rules on the subject please? To clarify, I am looking for a very classic look, not quirky or modern; but something that fits in with a tumbling down red brick farmhouse. Thank you!

Warm white all day. Blues aren't welcoming, and bright white lights will always tend blue.

Lights4Fun are pretty good. I've got their Festoon lights in the garden.

Warm white is much better for light pollution and less disruptive for wildlife. Also better to get ones on a timer rather than ones that say on all night.

That's great to know! Thank you very much everyone! Mumsnet is great for this sort of thing.

Yes I was going to go with Lights4Fun. There customer service is very good.

And don't worry; it's only for a very limited area in the courtyard of the house. There is lots of set aside for wildlife which can live undisturbed in other areas of the farm.
