Our bathroom fitter just called to say he broke the shower door during installation. He asked us to deduct it from his fee but i dont want to take money from him. He is a lovely guy and it may not be his fault. He mentioned that the door broke because it couldnt fit the tray and he was trying too hard. Could i ask for a refund or make a claim on the product guarantee? its a set from Victoria Plumbing. Any advice on how i should bring this up with customer service? thanks

Without knowing how much force he used it's hard to say if it was faulty or if he was manhandling it. You are going to need a replacement so call VP, explain it shattered during install and see if they offer a replacement?

I am sorry this happened to you, I hope you sorted it.

I'm trying to decide whether to buy a '6mm' glass shower door, or an '8 mm' - I think your experience has helped me decide, thank you.

I doubt it.

If you took delivery of a complete shower door, and now it's shattered, how will you prove he didn't just drop it. If he doesn't take the hit, the plumber's merchant will have to. How is that fair?

I guess he either applied too much pressure (shower doors are pretty tough & thick) or he over-tightened the clips/hinges.
