I've had a few comments from family and friends about people saying my house is boring in colour we don't think it is we think its clean and inviting downstairs-my front room is painted grey and magnolia with grey and pink furnishings
My kitchen is painted white with two tone of door colours grey and white
Bathroom is white and anthracite accessories

Going upstairs the hall is painted green (a light green but not sage )
Daughters room is pink and grey with a feature wall paper
sons room is blue with stickers that he likes
Upstairs loo is light blue
Our room is cream and chocolate brown

Im constantly thinking about what to paint the rooms and what can we keep doing to decorate
What is your home painted in ?

It’s all the grey. Grey everything. A little pink which makes it very early 80s. All the grey gives a cold industrial feeling. It looks really good juxtaposed with dark wood and many other things but you’ve got a lot of the grey and not enough of the other things that would make it inviting. I’ve got grey in my house too, light silver walls in my kitchen but I have it with dark walnut wood floors and pale blue cabinets. Powder room has grey and white wallpaper but wainscoting on the bottom and other warm accessories like brass faucet etc. Not too much.

I used to work for a company who painted everything grey, the walls, cabinets, even the floor was grey tiles. I wasn’t the only one who felt weird in that environment. My coworkers hated it and it was just a depressing feel if you can imagine it.

For everyone saying that it is rude ........ I'm presuming that they haven't just gone round to watch a film together and started criticising, ...... I am reading it that the OP - very much as she is doing here by starting a thread - has pressed them for their opinions.

In which case, you can expect to hear negative opinions as well as positive ones.

Personally, I can't understand why people would want to paint the inside of their homes the same colour as a battleship, but obviously wouldn't say that if someone invited me in for a cuppa but if someone was pressing me for my opinion, then I'd be honest.

I find grey really calming
But mine definitely isn't one of those Instagram grey homes, I've got colour and art and mess Grin just happens to have grey walls and a grey sofa

Your friends and family are idiots, probably old-fashioned.

Sorry but that sounds very jarring.

That's pretty rude and hurtful of your friends and family. Taste is very personal.

My house is full of floral, cath kidston and kitsch stuff. I'm sure most people would hate that. Friends or family would never be so mean to comment on it.
