Tiles or Karndean flooring for bathroom floor that is teenager proof

I need the flooring to be as waterproof as possible as have two teenagers who drench the floor when they come out of the shower despite there being a shower mat. Was going to go for tiles as maximum waterproofing but fitter said Karndean equally good and durable. Any thoughts? Don't want to be replacing flooring again in a few years, thanks!

I hate plastic floors so would go tiles or cork.

Vinyl is the most waterproof option, it is a single piece of impenetrable plastic.

We have Karndean in our bathroom and never had a problem despite things like me knocking over a whole bucket of water and a seal on the shower cubicle that stopped working. They tell you to clean it with some expensive branded Karndean cleaner but we never have and it still looks good and does the job after about 12 years. Warmer on your feet than tiles too unless you want to pay for underfloor heating.

Curious though about how they drench the floor - I have two teenagers too and they seem to manage OK!

Tiles.

Karndean.

Water gets under vinyl and tiles are cold and can crack.

Tiles crack very easily as we found out when husband dropped bottle of aftershave and now have to replace whole floor

We had a washing machine flood in the kitchen and our Karndean (large square vinyl tiles) didn't even lift on the exposed edges at the back. It's still going strong 11 years in. Have it in the bathroom too and it's brilliant.

Ikarndean

Doesn't crack
Isn't slippy
Warmer underfoot
Hard wearing

Another vote for Karndean. We have it and it's lovely. Tiles before and they cracked which meant water damage to ceiling below.

Ooh, a mixed bag here but think leaning towards Karndean based on this input - however still worried about sealant coming loose after a while but doesn’t seem like this happens. The room is our en suite and we have 4 children (two teenagers, two primary school age) so very heavy traffic as our main bathroom is very old with no shower - won’t be able to afford to sort that room for a while :(
I do like tiles but some have cracked.
One teenager has OCD so comes out of shower during showering to wash hands in sink :(

We went for LVT. It's amazing stuff, looks fab, drench proof ( I have the same problem!).

Highly recommended!

Another vote for vinyl. Our bathroom and kitchen currently have it and despite being down years still looks good. Our bathroom is looking properly tired and the wall tiles are starting to need work but the floor is still great.

We have Amtico in our careless children’s bathrooms. Similar to Karndean. Has been down three years and no issues. Regularly gets drenched or stuff spilled on it.
