What do you think to a glass chandelier over a kitchen dining table ?

would you? (Is it too tacky? It’s a
new build also)

if not what do you have above yours?

I have this which is fairly minimalist

IntheSnowySnowyMountains · 24/04/2023 00:16

Oh no photo sorry. Mn seem to have removed copy/paste for photos

Giggorata · 24/04/2023 00:41

I have this large orange one in the main landing over the stairs. I got it from an Italian restaurant which was closing down, The walls and ceiling are all blue, which doesn’t show in the photo:

… and I have just painted the small landing dark blue, and bought this red chandelier, but it isn’t up yet:

nicetoseetgesunsout · 24/04/2023 00:51

@ODFOx could you tell me where you got yours from, I love it?!

Sgtmajormummy · 24/04/2023 00:56

I bought a second hand Murano chandelier and got it rewired for 21st century Led bulbs. €300. I lucked out there. Our ceilings are 3.5 meters so I needed something big to fill the space.

Over a kitchen table I’d put a small modern acrylic chandelier. Maybe a knockoff of the Fatboy Rockcoco.

We live in a rental and have exactly what you describe. I love the look it only needs dusting twice a year. But it likely depends how close to the stove your table is I have not noticed grease on it.

@Tedzer it could be from this company. Mine is 11 years old now. Mine is slightly smaller at 45cm I think.
If not Rainbow London stock them or can order.

@Tedzer might help if I added the link!

This one looks like it is plastic rather than glass. If you have an open plan kitchen / dining space you'll be forever cleaning each individual bit to get the grease off!

It was from made.com before they went under. The picture I shared is from eBay; presumably someone bought up the remaining stock. It's called 'Adrianne'

Giggorata · 24/04/2023 07:52

Your wineglass chandelier is fantastic, @kitchenplans!
where did that one come from?

I have this cluster light in a different colour way ( mostly greens) over my kitchen table.
If I were going to choose a crystal chandelier I would put it in the hall or bedroom, where it would be less likely to get sticky than in a kitchen diner.

Love this

Littlebluebellwoods · 24/04/2023 10:23

I have three of these over my Kitchen island/dining area. I will be honest, I’m not a fan of the more formal glass Chandeliers in a kitchen, unless it’s a huge stately home kind of thing. Even then,it’s hard to pull off.

Littlebluebellwoods thanks.
they are nice.

I don’t know why but I have a irrational conviction not to have these kind of pendant lights.

There's some great examples on this thread!

Just remembered we also have one (glass, beaded) in our bathroom. Because of our high ceilings it hangs well above the bath etc - although our sparks did quibble about hanging it there due to building regs - and I absolutely love it especially as its on a dimmer. We have spots in the ceiling for when brighter light is required, but I love having just the chandelier on whilst bathing.

If I had the space for a chandelier-sized lamp the Artemide Pirce would be my absolute fave:

Sorry looked for British links but this was the best pic I could find. Utterly gorgeous, I've seen them in stores.

Love this! It would look perfect over our staircase. I'll have to seek it out. Thanks

Is the first one the one over your table snugmummy?

OP posts:
Snugmummy · 24/04/2023 22:28

Yes it is, we’ve got 20ft ceilings so needed something long, they are both from a German online company but I can’t remember the name of it! I love a chandelier!

CorsicaDreaming · 27/04/2023 07:26

@Nogg they've got one similar to @Snugmummy chandelier on the John Lewis website. In fact they've got loads of lovely ones if you do a search for chandelier k? https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-empire-crystal-chandelier-ceiling-light-clear/p4863300?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&sshare=jlappioss_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5LkNvcHlUb1Bhc3RlYm9hcmQ=

@FisherThem - wow that's a fab one! 🤩

P.S - that's the first time I've ever used the star faced emoji !

What an honour CorsicaDreaming! Makes up for thousands of crystals strewn across the dining table for months on end....
