Sage green metal bedstead with …

… what colour walls?

I ordered the darker green bed but once it arrived, it was actually sage, like the one in the second picture.

We are therefore rethinking our fern wallpaper idea, as a result as the greens were too bright.

Any ideas for a strong/ bold colour that would work with sage?

I would like a feature wall with wallpaper and painted walls for the other colour. Would like one of these not to be a neutral colour, if possible.

I’m not that confident with colour but love it when others make bold choices!

Any suggestions? TIA :)

(This is going to be potentially outing once my bedroom is decorated so have NC)

I work in interiors.

If you want a feature colour then go for something like an ochre/mustard colour even nudging towards a burnt orange... or a deep pink/lilac would work well.

If you wanted something softer, then go for a paler version of the sage green.

Or a wallpaper like this....Osborne and Little Eucalyptus.

I've painted a lot of metal objects from boot sales, etc., it's pretty easy. But the color you have now is nice, too.

And mustard is my all time favourite colour. Can anyone find me a nature themed / leafy wallpaper in mustard that would work?

Farrow and Ball Brassica. I had a greeen cast iron bed and it works well. I now have another bed with a green headboard.

You’re going to need a warm coloured bedspread.

If you want a bold contrast you could go for a dark violet/indigo - the colour of an iris flower - that works well with sage green.

Or sage and lavender

I see tropical colours when I look at the bed frame , peaches , oranges and lemon shades

Sage green and mustard yellow is distinctly underrated.

I’d go dark. I think your first choice of dark and green wallpaper could work. Maybe some cushions, including big cushions directly against the head of the bed - could tie it all together? Failing that, would your room take dark, almost black walls? Friends of mine have painted the bottom two thirds of the room and papered above it. I’d never have thought of it but it looks great. Is that something you could do?

Pic 2 is an example of a wallpaper or picture that has a combination of colours where you could use this as basis for colour combo within the room. Eg. The paler green in this pic could be the bed frame and then you could pick out the darker green for a bedspread or cushion, black or the creamy colour for a lampshade.... that kind of thing.
