What to do with footstool?

We have a very well used, but very gross looking footstool that I am growing to hate looking at.

It's not the same colour as the couch (came from a previous set), but we kept hold of it as it has storage and wheels, which is very handy.

It's really comfy to put your feet up on, so I am loathe to get rid of it. Replacing will cost a lot, and re-upholstering will also cost a lot. It's all fabric. Any ideas of anything I can do DIY to make it nicer?

I gave it a good scrub with a fabric cleaner which diluted the stain, but it didn't get rid completely. The paint seems to have covered it quite well!

Applied with a bob standard paintbrush. The instructions advise you to spray with water first, and then just paint on. The only thing I think I could have done better is give it a scrub with a hard bristled brush during the drying process, as it doesn't feel quite as soft as before where the fibres have knitted together ever so slightly. But once it's completely dry I'm going to give it a brush over and see if it softens up.

I wouldn't hesitate to do it again, I'm pleased with the result. Now off to fb marketplace to find a cheap footstool that I can paint for the other room!

I've got a bleach stain on one of our sofa cushions, I wonder if it would cover that?
