Shoe storage!

We have a medium sized house, family of 5 and we have so many shoes!!!! And not many places to put them tbh. I have a shoe rack in the hall but it only holds about 10 pairs. The rest are all over the house, no room in wardrobes either.

I have looked at shoe cabinets but I don’t have room for one really.

What do others do?

We chuck all ours in the cupboard under the stairs. We have storage racks at the back, but the most often used shoes just end up in a big jumble at the front. A couple of times a year I get the hump and tidy it up and throw out old shoes. Within days its a mess again, but at least it's hidden from view!

Well you only have so much space. Storage solutions only go so far.

Start with your space. Assuming you've made the best possible use of storage including packing up out of season shoes and shoving them in the loft/shed, how many shoes can fit in the storage you have? That is how many you can have.

If you want more something else has to go. Or you need a bigger house.

For out of season shoes put them in a good plastic box like a really useful box with a couple of those pound shop dehumidifiers then you can store them pretty much anywhere.

We keep outdoor shoes like wellies in plastic boxes outside under the garden bench. The shoes we wear most slide under the benches in the porch. The better shoes are in boxes in the cupboard.

We have a rack outside (under a canopy) for wellies.

football boots are stored in a sport bag so that’s them put away.

everyday shoes - school shoes are stored in the uniform boxes (one per child)

our shoes - dh under the bed and mine in an IKEA storage unit by the front door (dressy shoes and seasonal in a box above wardrobe)

No clutter but I literally declutter everything i see so if it’s not worn for a while it’s gone
