Just a warning.

Just been on the site. They are not taking any new orders.

How sad, good company and lovely products. 🥲

sashagabadon · 27/10/2022 08:41

That is a shame. I’ve brought great things from there. I wonder if the lead in times are the problem not the products. I bought a lovely chest of drawers a couple of years ago and it took about 4 months for it to arrive.

FuckabethFuckor · 27/10/2022 08:43

Overvalued during/after the pandemic I think.

It is a shame. The design ethos was (largely) good.

The construction quality and customer service had dipped in recent years, though.

It felt like a company that was badly led from the top, and having the arse ripped out of it for profit at the expense of inward investment. Story of the times, I guess.

I feel sorry for the people working there who might/will lose their jobs. And the suppliers/makers who may lose out on orders already fulfilled/part fulfilled.

A lot of slashes in that post, soz. Blush

Mapleapple · 27/10/2022 08:51

I have to disagree about the quality. A friend bought a sideboard from there and the quality was appalling. On par with mid range IKEA for double the price. It also arrived damaged and their customer service was non existent. I also bought a light from there and the electrician had to take half of it apart to get it to work.

I feel sorry for the staff but I am unsurprised by the company’s fate.

As a staff member, this has been coming for so long. Feel so sorry for my wonderful colleagues who have always done their best with what we've had to work with.

CraigDavid · 27/10/2022 09:01

Oh no! I've got loads of stuff from there. Always found the quality great and well priced.

FuckabethFuckor · 27/10/2022 09:02

@diamondsarefornextweek Sorry this is happening. I hope you find something else quickly (assuming Made goes down, which it sounds like it will).

digestivebiscu1t · 27/10/2022 09:03

Oh no, what a shame! I've got a couple of really nice things from there.

Sorry for you and your colleagues, @diamondsarefornextweek I hope you can all find something else soon Flowers

LynneBenfield · 27/10/2022 09:04

I agree re poor quality. I ordered a sofa from them a few years back and it was rubbish. It was only bought for occasional use but wasn’t a cheap sofa, it was from one of their mid prices ranges. One of the legs snapped with the first few uses (average weight adults using it as per manufacturers instructions) I sent it back and ended up getting a full refund. Customer services were at least easy to deal with, so that was one good thing.

Mapleapple · 27/10/2022 09:34

@diamondsarefornextweek - so sorry to you and your colleagues, I hope you are able to find something else quickly. Sounds like you had a stressful time there.

I'm so sorry that this is happening to you and lovely colleagues.

We have some lovely bits from made and I've always found the customer service to be good.

I wish you and colleagues all the best in the next bumpy weeks. Please know that you were appreciated Flowers

largeprintagathachristie · 27/10/2022 09:56

Anyone else currently have a live order with them?

I’ve got a two seater sofa due to arrive in December. The lead time was ridiculous- I imagine this is part of their problem - and they pushed it back by two weeks from the original date.

I paid by credit card.
I do want the sofa but will I have anyone at Made left to deal with if it arrives damaged?

LibertyLily · 27/10/2022 12:56

@diamondsarefornextweek So sorry for what you and your colleagues are going through...I hope if the worst does come to pass that you all find new jobs quickly 💐

We have a few Made items (most notably a desk and coffee table) all bought within the past 3-4 years. They sit happily alongside our vintage/antique pieces and the quality is very good, imho. We had no issues with lead times or delivery either, but I have previously heard lots of stories where that hasn't been the case. Earlier this week I was about to purchase something else - so pleased I held off now!
