What's this gap in my kitchen for?

Just moved and the kitchen has a big space but no cupboards and I can't work out what to do with it. It doesn't look an efficient use of space for pans and I don't have that many anyway! Maybe I should buy some cupboard doors for it??

Ugh a dog (or a cat) sleeping in the kitchen! Nope, anywhere but there, hairs you see, hairs, I'm shivering at the thought.

Ideal for bin storage and baskets of odds and ends though.

Would be recycling/bins for me. Maybe laundry basket if near the washer.

I've seen spaces like this in kitchens in Wren and they always have a dog bed in them so I think that's the original intention for the space.

I'm afraid you are going to have to get a dog to let the space fulfil its original purpose. A blue roan cocker spaniel (and send pictures please 😁)

😍😍 I am so jealous! My childhood dog was a blue roan cocker and she was the daftest, most loving dog in the world and the reason I gaze lovingly at anyone that passes me by. We can't get a dog right now but this is making me even more dog broody!
